Center Cass Board approves FY 2026 budget, cites facility renovation costs

The Center Cass SD 66 Board of Education voted unanimously to approve the FY 2026 budget on Sept. 10, 2025. The motion, made by Steve Dlugo and seconded by Doug Wiley, passed 7-0 after administration outlined facility-driven increases and ongoing efforts to strengthen district reserves.
Superintendent Dr. Wise told the Board that "the budget is operating as it should and the increased expenditures this year were primarily due to the renovation work necessary on the roofs, sidewalks, and parking lots at Lakeview and Prairieview." School leaders said the renovation work will be completed over two fiscal years and the budget reflects that multiyear planning. The board approved the motion without recorded opposition.
