Governing Board advances four draft goals for 2025–26 school year

President Laura Symon opened the Saint Helena Unified Governing Board study session at 4:03 p.m. on Oct. 20, 2025, and the board continued work on district goals for the 2025–2026 school year.
Using material from May 2025 study sessions on goals and student achievement, the board selected four draft goals focused on student achievement, school culture, personnel, learning environment and fiscal responsibility. Board documents and the session record state the board will refine evaluation metrics at the Nov. 13, 2025 meeting and formally adopt the final goals at the Dec. 11, 2025 meeting.
The session was presented as a continuation of the district's goal-setting process rather than a final vote. No formal adoption occurred at the study session; the board instead advanced the drafts for further refinement. The record shows the board approved the meeting agenda at the start of the session and adjourned at 5:33 p.m.
