County staff told commissioners that intermittent Internet outages at the courthouse have been disrupting critical work since earlier in the year, particularly in the public health office.
A department representative said, "We've had an ongoing problem since February or March with intermittent Internet capabilities in the public health office primarily." Staff described inconsistent communication with the current IT provider (Travis), difficulty getting timely responses on tickets, and partial roll‑out of cybersecurity keys purchased through a grant. Commissioners agreed the problem needs resolution and asked staff to gather contract information and to consider getting a sample contract from Remark Technologies for comparison.
The board asked staff to monitor the provider's responsiveness over the next month while collecting ticket logs and contract examples; if outages and poor response continue, commissioners said they would seek alternative providers and prepare a formal contract approach.
