Councilmembers debated whether to reissue the request-for-proposal for general legal services or proceed with the single responsive candidate. After discussion about procurement fairness and the risk of leaving the town without counsel, the council voted to approve the TG Law proposal to provide general legal services "for the time being."
Separately, the council approved hiring attorney Greg Jackson to serve as special magistrate for code-enforcement hearings. The clerk noted Councilwoman Jordan had stepped out of the room and recorded the magistrate vote as 4–0. Councilmembers said having legal representation in place was imperative because the town has multiple contractual and litigation matters in progress.
Several councilmembers urged staff to re-evaluate procurement channels and to consider broader advertising for future RFPs to attract additional firms. The town attorney and procurement staff described the demand‑side and OpenGov tools used in the solicitation and said they would revisit outreach strategies.
