Florence board accepts resignation of police officer in closed session

The board moved into executive session at 5:31 p.m. to discuss a personnel matter in the Police Department and returned to open session at 5:35 p.m.
According to the minutes, "to accept the resignation of Officer Canyon Bilbro effective immediately" was moved in executive session by Alderman Brian Grantham and seconded by Alderman John Banks; the recorded vote shows Aldermen John Banks, Brian Grantham, Mason Herrin, Kyle Martin and Brent Sistrunk each voted "Aye." The motion followed a recommendation from Chief Burns, as recorded in the meeting minutes.
Mayor Trey Gunn opened the specially called meeting at 5:30 p.m. and gave the invocation. The meeting packet lists a single new-business item: a personnel matter in the Police Department involving the position of police officer. City Clerk Linda Wigley later attested the minutes.
