The board approved a proposal to perform additional cleanup at Area 33 that includes perimeter clearing, removal of dead trees and mulching. District Manager Chuck Adams presented the proposal requested by Supervisor Carol Vaughan and the board approved the work, including the optional weed‑whacker scope, on a motion by Michael Walsh and seconded by Stephen Putman.
District Engineer Kurt Heath cautioned that "there is a natural wetland in the center of the area" and described a separate excavated retention area on the western side and a portion on the south side that is difficult to mow with equipment; he recommended limited weed‑whacker work on the dry retention slope as an optional scope that does not impede drainage. Ms. Vaughan and Mr. Gatz discussed mulch options; Mr. Gatz noted wood chips are free and additional mulching will occur in early spring.
