Superintendent reports on dual-sport participation and school fair; principals give enrollment and program updates

Superintendent Erica Smith briefed the board on several operational items at the Aug. 20 meeting. She said there are currently nine junior-high students participating in both football and baseball and reported that the school fair served 361 students and involved 56 volunteers (including 12 students). A FOIA request from a government education data group and progress on a new district website were also noted.
Principals provided building-level updates: Amanda Shoopman reported Central Early Childhood enrollment of 116 (112 last year), playground fencing and sidewalk work, installation of a washer/dryer, and curricular rollout of UFLI for grades 1–2 and other professional development sessions. Chevi Ingalls reported Central Elementary enrollment at 234 (224 last year), a donation from State Representative Kyle Moore's team, and a house system rollout beginning Aug. 26. Tracy Rhea reported Central Junior High enrollment at 226 and upcoming D.A.R.E. and Too Good for Drugs program starts; Zak Huston reported Central High School enrollment at 230 and facility/classroom upgrades and Homecoming scheduled for Sept. 29–Oct. 4.
These operational reports were presented for board information; no formal policy actions were recorded in the minutes on these items.
