Florence approves 2025 Rankin County tax roll, claims docket and conference travel; minutes approved with one abstention

On Dec. 16 the Florence board approved the 2025 Rankin County tax rolls as applicable to the city, following a motion by Alderman Kyle Martin that carried unanimously. The board also approved sending governing officials to the MML Mid-Winter Conference Jan. 13–14, 2026 in Jackson, MS, with the city to pay a $250 registration fee each and related costs as allowed by state law; separately the board approved sending Water/Sewer Operator Billy Russell to the MWPCOA Annual Conference March 4–6, 2026 with a $365 registration fee and related allowable costs.
The board approved the mid-month claims docket and voted to table the Florence Volunteer Fire Department equipment invoice request until the next meeting. The board also approved purchasing a $325 advertisement with Hometown Rankin to promote economic development. The minutes record approval of the minutes for Dec. 2, 2025, with the vote carried as: John Banks—Aye; Brian Grantham—Abstain; Mason Herrin—Aye; Kyle Martin—Aye; Brent Sistrunk—Aye.
