Trustees to decide in February on girls flag football at St. Helena High

St. Helena High School Athletic Director Brandon Farrell and Principal Benjamin Scinto presented a proposal to add girls flag football to the high school athletics program beginning Fall 2026. Farrell and Scinto said interest has increased locally and statewide and outlined logistics and estimated costs for starting a varsity team.
Principal Scinto said the program was responsive to student and feeder-middle-school demand. "If approved, the Varsity Team will begin participating in the Independent League in Fall 2026," the presentation noted. The board did not vote on Jan. 8; trustees directed staff to return with details and will vote at the Feb. 12, 2026 meeting.
