At its Dec. 15 meeting the board approved the second reading of PRESS Policy Update Issue #120 on a voice vote of 7–0. The motion was made by M. Urish and seconded by S. Engelkens.
Superintendent T. Schurman summarized that the PRESS update will lead to revisions across numerous district policies, including renumbering school code provisions, changes to mental health requirements, neonatal intensive care leave, open meetings act and FOIA procedures, administrative procedures, discrimination policy, principal responsibilities, fiscal and business management, third-party contracts, transportation and school bus safety rules, criminal offender screening, staff development, ethics, school year/calendar, curriculum development including AP classes, student behavior, student records, and parent involvement.
The board approved the second reading, moving the update forward for incorporation into district policy manuals.
