Administrators update Central SD 51 board on curriculum, special education and school activities
Summary
District administrators reported on curriculum and instruction needs, special education enrollment and services, school safety drills, and upcoming events including a WHIP food drive and Kindness Week.
Administrators provided an overview of current programs and operational activity during the Nov. 13 meeting. Mr. Halpin’s Curriculum & Instruction report addressed needs assessment results for professional development, institute day professional development, the Illinois Report Card and software license information.
Mr. King reported on special education enrollment and services, including recognition of National School Psychologists Week, enhancements to sensory rooms, IDEA grant allotments, and fall ECE screenings. Ms. Venegonia and Mrs. Rogers summarized CPS current events, enrollment and staffing, bus evacuation and safety drills, the Parent Newsletter, a WHIP food drive and Kindness Week. Mrs. Bush provided CIS updates on safety drills, unified PE, SEL and SABERS, and discipline reporting.
Mrs. Blundy opened the meeting earlier by stating the district mission: “Encourage Excellence Everyday with Compassion, Commitment and Community,” a line cited in the minutes and reiterated during reporting. The reports were received for review; the minutes record no separate motions on these informational items.
