Legislature assumes SEQRA lead agency for transit vehicle expansion and issues Negative Declaration

The Rules Committee voted for the Legislature to assume Lead Agency status and issue a Negative Declaration under the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) for a proposed transit vehicle expansion. Mr. Thomas J. Faggione moved the action and Commissioner of Planning Alan J. Sorensen described the procedural need to complete Parts I, II and III of the Short Environmental Assessment Form (SEAF) and conclude the project is an unlisted action with no significant environmental impact.
Sorensen said the county is purchasing additional transit buses and that completing SEQRA is a required step before proceeding with procurement. The committee approved the SEQRA determination unanimously, clearing a procedural hurdle for the vehicle expansion project.
