Orange County DA's office to add deputy chief investigator and executive assistant ADA positions

The Public Safety Committee approved two personnel actions for the Orange County District Attorney's Office on April 22: creation of one Deputy Chief Criminal Investigator position with a stated annual salary of $151,708.76, and creation of one Executive Assistant District Attorney position at Grade 27 (salary range $92,718'$214,754). Legislator Kathy Stegenga moved both requests; both motions carried while Legislator DeShanda T. Carter was not yet present for earlier votes.
Richard Moran, the DA's Chief Trial Prosecutor, said the investigator role is needed because the investigator unit has expanded and needs additional supervision; he said the person in mind has over 20 years'experience and would lead litigation support. On the executive assistant ADA, Moran said an experienced incumbent will move into the role to supervise grand jury work and monitor compliance with discovery laws, and that the incumbent's previous position will be abolished rather than increasing headcount.
