District schedules state assessments and highlights student activities
Summary
Principal Neaveill reported testing dates (Illinois Assessment of Readiness begins March 24; 5th-grade Illinois Science Assessment April 9–11) and several student programs and events including a March 12 PTO Physics van, a Feb. 17 records hall installation, and a Jan. 29 blood drive that collected 23 units.
Principal Neaveill told the board that the Illinois Assessment of Readiness for elementary ELA and math will begin March 24, and the Illinois Science Assessment for fifth grade is scheduled for April 9–11. Neaveill noted midterms went home Feb. 7 and report cards are due March 14. The district’s 5Essentials Survey is open for teachers, parents and 4th–5th grade students; Neaveill also completed required training to administer ACCESS assessments for kindergarten English language learners.
Superintendent Weidner relayed highlights from Principal Willard’s report: a ‘‘Hatching Potential’’ program will connect high school students with elementary lessons on hatching and life cycles, Mr. Vogel is volunteering ACCUPLACER preparation for sophomores seeking entry to the RTA program, four students competed at FCCLA sectional on Feb. 6, six FFA students attended a leadership conference, two students advanced in the JHOC spelling bee, the records hall was installed Feb. 17, Teacher Appreciation Night occurred Feb. 18, and a Jan. 29 blood drive collected 23 units of blood.
