Township adopts 2025–2029 compensation resolution and raises general assistance

At its Nov. 20 meeting, the Chemung Township board voted to adopt a resolution setting compensation for township officials for 2025–2029. Trustee Anne Nutley proposed annual increases of 2.5% across the board, with the clerk’s increase set at 3%; the minutes record a motion to accept by Trustee Shirley Walter, second by Trustee Anne Nutley, and approval by all present.
Supervisor Sam Finfrock also reported the board increased the township’s general assistance allowance from $400 to $439 per resident per year. The minutes record that election petitions were submitted to the McHenry County Clerk on Nov. 19, 2024, and that the 2024–2025 levy and Truth in Taxation items were reviewed and will be voted on at the next meeting on Dec. 18, 2024.
The compensation resolution sets pay policy for the next four years and the increase in general assistance changes the guideline for aid distributed to eligible residents. The board took no additional amendments during the meeting; the levy items will return for formal action at the December meeting.
