The Sinton Independent School District Board of Trustees approved a package of budget amendments on Sept. 16 that collectively add tens of millions of dollars to construction and grant-related funds. The largest single amendment increased Fund 620 by $24,500,531.77 to cover construction projects and associated vendor contracts tied to the district bond program; Fund 618 was increased by $381,708 for the Sinton Elementary roofing project.
Board Member Sam P. Lankford moved to approve the consent agenda containing the budget amendments; Board Secretary Robin Brown seconded. The minutes record the motion as passing (the document states "the motion passed unanimously 6-0; Board Vice President Danny Lorberau not in attendance") but also note a correction on page 234 referencing a prior August vote and that Board Member Crystal Saldaña "voted against," creating an internal inconsistency in the meeting minutes about an earlier tally. The consent agenda also included multiple grant-related increases (Title I, IDEA-B, Perkins V, Title II, ARP ESSER III, TX Gear Up and others) explicitly to match NOGA (Notice of Grant Award) amounts.
Why it matters: the funds will pay architects, construction managers and contractors working on the new Sinton High School, multipurpose building and Smith Middle School renovations, and they set authorized spending levels that permit ongoing pay applications and purchases tied to the bond program. The board did not discuss rescinding or reducing any of these increases; they were approved as part of the consent agenda.
