Kim Dellacort of the Ventura County Office of Emergency Services explained how VC Alert delivers notifications and how residents can ensure they receive messages while away from home. "Alerts are sent based on the addresses registered with the system, allowing users to receive notifications regardless of their physical location," she said.
Dellacort outlined the Hazard Mitigation Plan update and encouraged community participation via an online survey and an in-person public workshop scheduled for Nov. 18. Council members asked why Ventura County’s evacuation zones differ from neighboring Los Angeles County; Dellacort said Ventura sometimes draws evacuation areas in real time to better match incident conditions and reduce congestion. She also stated the Hazard Mitigation Plan focuses on natural hazards and not cyber incidents.
