Township assessor: home-sale prices steady; 19 new homes underway

Township Assessor John Killeen told the board that new sales prices in Chemung Township "continue to HOLD STEADY," with fewer properties listed and faster sales when homes are priced competitively.
Killeen said new-construction costs are rising and reported 19 new homes currently under construction — eight of them duplexes — and three homes completed for occupancy in the past month. He also noted commercial activity including a new office under construction at Aluma-Tank in Bigfoot and exterior storage work, including a canopy, underway at Greenway Storage.
On assessments and appeals, Killeen said staff are processing exemptions and change requests as needed. Assessment notices were mailed June 20, 2024 and published June 26, 2024; the complaint filing deadline was July 26, 2024. He reported five appeals pending and told the board that hearing scheduling for 2024 appeals is closed for the township.
