The highway superintendent said the county is eligible for about $622,000 under the lane-mile distribution difference and that, because Community Crossings covers approximately 80% of project costs, the county should prepare roughly $780,000 worth of candidate projects. Staff listed several roads (Old Honeybird Road, Mariah Hill Road segments, Mill Street, and others) and used a Biolytics pavement-rating tool and traffic counts to prioritize longer stretches that rated 3 or 4 on the assessment scale.
Commissioners approved proceeding with documentation and asked staff to have a financial-commitment letter ready at the next meeting so the county can apply promptly when the window opens Sept. 1.
