Ambulance director outlines 2027 budget and plans to switch billing companies to reduce aging receivables

Young told commissioners the service has been struggling with aging receivables and will switch to a new nationwide billing company, 911 Billing, on Oct. 1; the vendor charges roughly 0.5 percentage points more than the prior vendor but, Young said, offers more intensive follow-up and EMR access for claims work.
Young walked the board through capital outlays and a planned remount/new ambulance expected in December and explained how changing billing firms could improve monthly cash flow and reduce multi-month-aged receivables.
Commissioners approved the EMS budget as presented and asked to continue receiving monthly revenue reports during the billing transition.
