Board acknowledges sheriff's hire and agrees to shift DARE and forfeiture funds toward county K9 program

The Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors on July 27 acknowledged the hiring of Amy Norby as a dispatcher/jailer in the Sheriff's Office, with a starting wage of $23.64 effective Aug. 10, 2026.
"Acknowledge the hiring of Amy Norby's as a dispatcher/jailer with a starting wage of $23.64 as outlined in the union contract effective August 10, 2026 for the Sheriff's Office," the board recorded in its minutes after a motion by Supervisor Breitbach, seconded by Supervisor Carter; roll call was all Ayes.
Separately, the board discussed reassigning the DARE Fund balance and forfeiture fund balance to a K9 Fund for the Sheriff's Office. The minutes record a consensus of the board to permit use of those funds for the K9 program and to include the change in a budget amendment; no formal roll-call motion was recorded for the fund transfer.
The actions will require the county auditor to include the fund transfers in a formal budget amendment and to report back to the board with accounting details.
