Resident urges River Ridge board to fund Lake 8 grading after home flooding

Rich Batterberry, a resident and NVR of Oak Run, told the board that rainwater pooling from the community monument down to halfway along Lake 8 takes a long time to recede and is causing water to get under some foundations. He said one homeowner incurred significant costs trying to mitigate water coming up through the floor.
District Engineer Charlie Krebs reviewed the Seaside scope of work and said because the area was never regraded, similar grading work could address the issues at Lake 8. Chair Bob Schultz said the matter would be considered during the Fiscal Year 2025/2026 budget process. "Residents are asking the Board to consider something similar to their neighborhood," Batterberry said, describing the observed pooling and damage.
The board took no immediate action; the item was placed on the board's fiscal planning list for the coming budget cycle. The discussion included a request that staff return with cost estimates and placement options if the board decides to include the project in next year's capital plan.
