On recommendation of Chief Burns, the board unanimously approved sending Sgt. Chris Rast to a Vehicle Contraband/Drug Concealment training at Horn Lake Police Department May 4–5, 2026, with the city covering allowable costs. The board also authorized surplusing three patrol units (a 2007 Ford Crown Victoria, a 2008 Chevrolet Impala, and a 2014 Dodge Charger) and sending them to Mid-South Auction in Pearl, MS.
The board approved Rick's Pro Truck quote #3787 for $43,800 to purchase a 2024 Dodge Durango (serial #1C4SDJFT8RC198312) for the Police Department, identified as the lowest of two quotes. Later in the meeting, after entering executive session to discuss a Police Department personnel matter, the board accepted Officer Marquize Nixon's resignation, effective March 10, 2026. The resignation vote was taken in executive session and recorded as carried.
