Florence hires Patrick James and promotes Tyler Hayes in Street Department

In executive session Feb. 3 the Florence board approved hiring Patrick James at $15.00/hour starting Feb. 9 (pending checks) and promoted Tyler Hayes to Assistant Street Director with a $1.25/hour pay increase.
The board took personnel actions in executive session on Feb. 3, approving a hire and a promotion in the Street Department.
On the recommendation of Street Director David Myers, the board voted in executive session to hire Patrick James as a street maintenance employee at $15.00 per hour with a 90-day probation period beginning Feb. 9, 2026, contingent on a successful background check and drug and alcohol testing. The vote was recorded as Aldermen Herrin, Martin and Sistrunk voting Aye; Aldermen Banks and Grantham were absent.
Also on Myers' recommendation, the board promoted street employee Tyler Hayes to Assistant Street Director with an immediate pay increase of $1.25 per hour. That motion carried with the same recorded votes (Herrin Aye; Martin Aye; Sistrunk Aye; Banks and Grantham absent). Both personnel decisions were made during executive session and recorded in the minutes as carried.
