Maddox said the city historically received roughly $25,000 annually for those services; under the new agreement the airport would pay $75,000 in the first year and then a phased percentage of its operating budget (1.25% and later 1.5%) in subsequent years. Maddox emphasized conflict-of-interest protections in the agreement and noted litigation would generally be handled by outside counsel and insurers.
Councilors questioned the basis for the phased percentage and whether the flat first-year fee would cover any additional workload; Maddox said the phase-in was intended to ease budgetary impact on the airport while formalizing the scope of services. Council moved to approve the resolution as presented.
