County engineer reports culvert, graveling and bridge applications; flags $6K–$8K change order

Roman Lutsky, county engineer, provided a progress report on county road and bridge work, saying crews completed about half of the best route and placed a culvert on B46 north of Lawler with the aim of reopening that road segment. "We did place the culvert on B 46 North of the Lawler. Hopefully, get that opened up today," the speaker said. He added that many patches would be graveled "until roughly September, October when we fill them with HMA."
The engineer also said the north pier on a bridge project required an additional foot of excavation into bedrock and that the extra work would likely produce a change order in the range of $6,000 to $8,000. He reported the county submitted the 2026 highway bridge program application to the Federal Highway Administration on July 24 and cited Sept. 14 as the estimated announcement date for that grant program.
