Council hears beach update: some stops to remain open, stairs buried, toters disappearing

Beach Chair Brian Cassidy updated the council on beach operations and conditions. He said Stops 37 and 41.5 will remain open for the season and reported the stairs at Stop 38 are buried in sand about 4 feet and are too hard to remove at present. Cassidy also raised concerns that village toters have disappeared at some beach stops and said he would coordinate with Republic (the waste contractor) to find a solution.
Cassidy added a lake-level observation: "as of today, the lake levels were reported being 7 inches lower this year from what they were last year at this time." Council also reminded residents to avoid walking on forming ice shelves during freezing conditions and said they will recheck protruding items at Stop 40 in the spring.
