Michiana council selects Orbis for historic-preservation study; reports new pump installed

The Village of Michiana on March 14 approved hiring Orbis Environmental Consulting for $2,105 to complete an EPA-required National Historic Preservation study that is part of the village’s water-project planning.
Councilmember Mike Mumper said Merritt Engineering is advancing the first water grant’s project plan and that the preservation study will also cover the second grant, which must be resubmitted after a congressional pause. The council had received two quotes—Merjent at $7,450 and Orbis at $2,105—and voted to approve Orbis’s lower bid.
Mumper also reported that a new "750mp" pump has been installed in the pump house as part of the first grant. He said he expects a water contract with Grand Beach to be ready by the April meeting. Tim McCarthy moved to approve Orbis for $2,105; Mike Botelho seconded and the motion passed.
