Minidoka County school board re-elects officers, approves calendars and adopts state manuals

The Minidoka County Joint School District #331 Board of Trustees elected Russ Suchan as board chair and Mary Andersen as vice chair during its Feb. 24 regular meeting in Rupert. The board also appointed Daryl Kent as treasurer and Kerri Tibbitts as board clerk during the reorganizational actions recorded at the start of the meeting.
The board voted to approve the district calendars for 2025–26 and 2026–27 with a correction to the 2026–27 staff calendar (the Friday before Presidents Day). The motion to approve the calendars was made by Trustee Kent and seconded by Trustee Claridge and carried by recorded vote. The board also approved the district’s listed board meeting dates.
In business motions the board adopted the State Transportation Manual and the State Special Education Manual. Trustee Claridge moved to adopt the transportation manual and Vice Chair Andersen seconded; the motion carried. Trustees also approved a package of policy first readings and related personnel-policy items by motion. The consent agenda — including minutes, payroll and an emergency hire for a preschool position (Josh Andersen) — was approved by unanimous consent earlier in the meeting.
The actions finalize routine governance items the board must set each year and clear the way for ongoing operational work this spring. The board adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
