District considers moving office to Junior High; HVAC, ADA and security costs cited

The Finance Committee heard from Business Manager Kendra Salesky about costs and logistical issues associated with moving the District Office to the Junior High. Salesky said OSHA recommends a temperature range of 76 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit for the space and that maintaining that range would likely require three to four mini-split units, estimated "from 30 to 40 thousand dollars."
Committee members discussed additional costs: cleaning the building prior to occupancy, expenses to clean the current District Office for sale or lease, safety hazards requiring locking gates, and the need to attain ADA compliance either by repairing an existing lift or installing a ramp. Salesky said quotes have been sought and that one option is to list the current District Office for sale and move staff only after a sale occurs.
The Committee did not vote on relocating staff; it directed business and facilities staff to continue seeking quotes and options and to report back to the Committee and Board.
