Council amends Tree Ordinance to bar oak pruning Apr. 15–Sept. 15, requires tool sanitation

The Village Council voted 5–0 to amend the Tree Ordinance to reduce the risk of oak wilt. In the event where a tree is damaged or needs pruning, tools must be sanitized, and a latex based paint must be applied to the wound immediately after pruning." Nancy Thill made the motion; Brian Cassidy seconded and the roll‑call vote was unanimous.
Council members discussed having the village attorney review tree‑service applications related to the Tree Proposal before work begins; a Tree Proposal application for village tree services was approved earlier in the meeting conditioned on attorney review. The change follows Tree Board discussion of oak wilt prevention and recent herbicide work by Pizzo Gardens.
