Council hears water system update; project plan to go to EPA, reports filed with EGLE

Mike Mumper reported that monthly water reports have been submitted to the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) and that daily testing is being done by public works staff. Merritt is preparing a project plan that will go to the EPA for approval; once the EPA review is complete the village will assemble bids for the second phase of the project.
A new pump is ready and village staff proposed installing it in November when demand is lower; Street Superintendent Rick Reitz said he prefers to take the system down to one pump during the installation. Hydrant flushing is scheduled over the next couple of weeks. The minutes do not provide contract pricing or detailed timelines beyond the planned November installation window.
