Council: new park lawn completed; irrigation installed and no extra maintenance costs promised
Summary
Council members reported completion of a new lawn and irrigation at the village park; contractors and staff will handle watering, fertilizing and mowing schedules, and the council told a resident there will be no additional upkeep cost to homeowners.
Council member Mike Mumper reported that contractors completed the new park lawn and that the village is operating a new irrigation system coordinated with contractor Down to Earth. Mumper said the village will fertilize and mow the lawn once now, do another round of fertilizing in November and again in spring. He thanked Rick Reitz and public works staff for assistance in getting the irrigation running.
During the meeting resident Kathleen Hogan Morrison asked whether the new lawn would create additional maintenance costs for residents. Council members responded that there will be no additional cost: mowing, leaf cleanup and tree watering will continue under current arrangements. Mike Mumper and staff plan to monitor the system; a separate water meeting is expected in November to discuss water matters and operations further.
The minutes also note installation of drywells near Stop 38 and 39 and that beach stairs at certain stops will be removed at the end of the month; these infrastructure items were reported alongside park maintenance and public works updates.
