The Minidoka County Joint School District Board reviewed extensive budget and benefits reports at its March 17 meeting, with board documents showing a grand total of $54,776,177.23 across funds and detailed line‑item reports for salaries, benefits, services, supplies and capital objects.
Board packet material presented a multi-page general ledger and fund reports showing the General Fund at $39,805,219.42 and summaries of object-level spending (salaries $20,319,752; benefits $9,391,276; capital objects $5,193,443). The packet also compared district salary placements and state placements across multiple rung levels and lists of employees by rung and placement.
During the superintendent’s report, Mr. Larsen told trustees that pending legislation could change revenue flows to the district. He warned that HB93 draws from a separate pot of money but “giving money to students who may attend private and charter schools may lower our enrollment, which is less money for the District,” a change that could reduce state‑allocated revenue if enrollment falls.
The packet included fund‑by‑fund detail (for example, Food Service Fund: $2,650,008.31; Debt Service Fund: $1,927,000.00) and object‑level percentages of budget used to date. Trustees and staff noted contingency balances and capital commitments in discussing how much of the reported fund balance is already earmarked for unfinished levy projects and contingencies.
Board members did not take a single omnibus motion on the general fund totals; the finance pages were presented as part of the regular packet and as the basis for subsequent business motions on specific program budgets during the meeting. The district’s financial reports remain available in the meeting packet for public review.
