Board adopts reviewed Risk Management Plan required for Tort funding

Carlinville CUSD 1 trustees adopted the district's reviewed Risk Management Plan, which is required to access Tort funds and covers items such as SRO salary, helmet reconditioning, elevator and bleacher inspections and insurance.
The board approved the district's Risk Management Plan Oct. 14, a document the district must review annually to maintain access to Tort funds.
Dr. Becky Schuchman explained the plan helps reduce exposure to liability and lists typical uses of Tort dollars, including the School Resource Officer salary, football helmet reconditioning, elevator maintenance, workers' compensation, property and fire inspections and bleacher inspections. Following a motion by Brandon Little and a second by Maya Reid, trustees adopted the reviewed plan on a unanimous roll-call vote of 6-0 (Seth Roberts absent).
School leaders said the plan's routine evaluations and required inspections are part of ongoing efforts to manage district risk and financing for maintenance and safety work.
