Board approves short-term lease to Lewis & Clark Community College for former middle school office

Carlinville CUSD 1 trustees voted Oct. 14 to adopt a short-term lease permitting Lewis & Clark Community College to occupy the former middle school office suite.
Dr. Becky Schuchman told the board Lewis & Clark is selling a nearby building and the district offered space in the CMS office suite to help the college maintain a local presence. She said the proposed lease would be on a year-to-year basis at $1,000 per month, with Lewis & Clark responsible for phone and internet service. The district noted the arrangement has supported programming — including CNA and education courses — that involve district students.
Andrew Johnson moved to adopt the short-term lease and Brandon Little seconded; the board voted 6-0 by roll call with Seth Roberts absent.
