Board approves consent contracts for design work, building systems and residential placements

During the board's consent agenda, trustees approved several routine contracts that Dr. Newton and support-operations staff said are intended to support unforeseen projects and ongoing facilities maintenance.
Andy Knapp of support operations explained the continuing-service contracts with Arcforma and Plan 1 Architects are used to produce timely designs and feasibility studies for projects such as emergency repairs and planned renovations. “We use these for meeting timelines and for unforeseen projects during the year that may come up,” Knapp said, noting an example involving a water-pressure issue in the South Triad and upcoming work tied to an East renovation and addition.
Knapp described a five-year agreement with Johnson Controls that covers software to manage building systems (heating, cooling and air systems) and a separate maintenance service agreement to support those controls. Dr. Newton clarified that the Johnson Controls item is split into two parts: the software paid over five years and the maintenance service agreement.
Dr. Newton also said the BOCES 5 contract (CBAR V, based in or near Wilson, Wyoming) is for residential placements for students with very severe emotional disabilities whose needs require residential care. Trustees approved the full consent agenda by voice vote with no items pulled for separate consideration.
