The Planning and Zoning Commission voted to recommend that the Anchorage Assembly approve a comprehensive plan map amendment (case 2026‑0096) to change five parcels within Chugach Electric's North Campus from light industrial/commercial to general industrial and to remove the Greenway Supportive Development overlay. Staff said the parcels, historically used for utility and heavy equipment storage and adjacent to Ship Creek, meet the plan and rezone criteria and recommended approval.
Dowell representative Carly Lamothe told the commission the parcels have housed utility infrastructure and industrial uses since the 1960s and that no new development is proposed; the amendment is intended to align the Anchorage 2040 land use plan with on‑the‑ground uses. She said the Greenway supportive hatching on two parcels related to earlier Seward–Glen connection planning and no longer reflected future project impacts. Commissioner Polis moved to recommend approval; the motion passed. The commission also combined companion rezoning case 2026‑0097 for Commission consideration.
The Assembly will consider the map amendment and the draft assembly ordinance included in the staff packet.
