Board authorizes release of certain closed-session minutes and destruction of older audio recordings
Summary
At the Feb. 6 meeting the Lincolnwood SD 74 board voted to release specified closed session minutes (Sept. 1, 2016–Dec. 5, 2024) as no longer confidential and to destroy closed-session audio recordings held prior to July 30, 2023 for which approved minutes exist; both measures passed unanimously among members present.
President Kevin Daly brought several governance items to the board. The board approved the Secretary's recommendation to release certain closed session minutes covering Sept. 1, 2016 through Dec. 5, 2024, determining they no longer required confidential treatment; the motion was moved by Member Jay Oleniczak and seconded by Member Ted Kwon and passed by recorded vote (Ayes: Theodore, Foutris, Kwon, Oleniczak, Shah Mandal, Daly; Absent: Vranas).
In a separate motion moved by Member Oleniczak and seconded by Member Kwon, the board authorized destruction of closed-session audio recordings held prior to July 30, 2023 for which approved minutes already exist. That motion also passed by recorded vote with the same tally. Both actions were recorded as board motions and votes in the minutes; the board did not identify specific released minute entries in the textual meeting summary beyond the date range referenced.
