The Brown County Board of Zoning Appeals approved an amendment to the existing special exception for The Barn at Timber Ridge (Docket 26-SE-07) on June 24, imposing specific operational conditions.
Petitioner Christopher Duvall said he and his partners purchased the property six years ago, described site lighting (solar parking and timber lights) and said a fire alarm test had been completed about a month earlier. He told the board the venue does not offer lodging and that outdoor music is played from approximately 1 to 5 p.m. during ceremonies and is amplified.
Multiple neighbors, contractors and local service providers spoke in support, citing responsible management, limited noise and local economic benefits. Member Michael Harrison raised fire-safety concerns for large gatherings given the quarter-mile one-way driveway and noted that building code ordinarily requires full sprinkling for occupancies over 300; he said the Harden letter in the packet did not fully address safety. The board amended condition #3 in the staff report to require additional restroom facilities if events consist of more than 400 guests per week. The motion to approve the amended conditions passed unanimously.
