Board approves front-setback variance to allow tornado-damaged Nashville home to be rebuilt

Planning Director Kayla Robertson read the staff report. The board heard that seven certified mailings were sent with three returned. Petitioners Heidi Corson and Jason Freeman told the board the house had been destroyed and "needed to be demolished and rebuilt." Board members asked about septic and elevation; the petitioners said Ernie Reed from the Health Department had approved a pump-and-haul solution so a conventional finger system would not be required.
No one spoke in opposition. Contractor Sheldon Hamilton asked whether the petitioners would pay for a permit; Robertson replied there would be no permit charge for the rebuild because it was damaged by the tornado. President Dillberger moved to approve docket 26-VAR-07 based on the findings; Ms. Brown seconded and the motion passed on a roll-call vote with all five members voting yes.
