Residents press board on yard debris; village points to ordinances and Spring cleanup program

During the public-comment portion of the March 24 meeting, a resident raised concerns that debris in front yards was making the village look "really unbecoming" and could depress property values.
Trustee Zakrocky and President Counley responded that the issue falls under blight enforcement and that the village has an aggressive ordinance officer who issues warnings and may refer violations to court. Deputy Clerk Prehn told the board, "The only recourse we have is the Ordinance violations in hopes that they clean it up, but we can’t make them." She also outlined the village's Spring cleanup supports: a no-cost dumpster for residents, yard-waste pickup starting April 1, an e-waste collection on April 20 (limits: one TV, one monitor, five small items), and spring leaf pickup on May 4–5.
The resident requested specifics be left with the office; the board encouraged use of the upcoming Spring cleanup and noted that enforcement is a stepwise process of warnings followed by court referral in some cases. No additional fines or emergency enforcement were approved at the meeting.
