McCullom Lake votes to continue road partnership with McHenry Township amid limited grant funding

The Village of McCullom Lake Board voted Jan. 27 to continue partnering with the McHenry Township Road District for future road work, while trustees and staff acknowledged limited local funds after a missed grant application last year. President Terry Counley told the board that the Village did not receive the grant it had hoped for and is therefore "limited with money this year on what we can do." Deputy Clerk Prehn reported the Village's Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) fund balance at about $185,000 and said two sections of Flanders Road that belong to the village are roughly estimated at $79,000; Prehn added that the township could do Flanders while the village could use about $100,000 (estimate) to complete part of Spring Road from Flanders up to Orchard, excluding a portion already patched.
Trustee Walter moved to continue the intergovernmental agreement with McHenry Township Road District; Trustee Fritz seconded. Voice vote recorded ayes from Trustees Bogacz, Fritz, Walter and Zakrocky; Trustee Vick abstained. President Counley said the Village will "apply for anything and everything that is out there" to pursue future grant opportunities. The board discussed reapplying for block grants next year and the limitations related to the village's low-to-moderate-income percentages.
