Council approves Grand County trail maintenance projects but bars altering the 'Down and Dirty' obstacle without coordination

Nicole Nielson moved to approve the top three Grand County trail maintenance applications (including APP-005483 and APP-005693) with added language directing the BLM applicant (APP-05433) to work with Red Rock 4-Wheel Drive and Moab Friends for Wheeling and to avoid reducing the difficulty of the "Down and Dirty" obstacle; Brody Johnson seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Council members said they supported maintenance and signage but objected to proposals that would physically lower the challenge of established obstacles. Maureen Casper confirmed the council can write contract language to require coordination with local user groups prior to construction.
