Town of Cortland flags $1 million need to replace 50‑year‑old Pine Street lift station

Director of Public Works Joel Summerhill reported that Pine Street lift station experienced rotted conduit that shorted power cables to the pump and breaker; a spare pump was installed and All Around Pumping serviced the station, and no residences were impacted. Summerhill said the lift station is 50 years old and "will need to be replaced. The approximate cost is 1 million dollars."
He also reported Well #1 had a new pump and motor installed (less expensive than abandoning the well) and that Well #4 will have its column pipe pulled to determine why production is down. These infrastructure needs were presented during the departmental report and may have implications for capital planning and the FY2027 budget.
