Gavin SD 37 wins $50,000 maintenance grant; district plans gym sanding and kitchen upgrades

The Gavin School Board on Jan. 21 confirmed the district received a $50,000 maintenance grant for 2026 and outlined a series of facilities projects planned for spring and summer. Facilities Director Mr. Snyder reported that Veregy completed two walkthroughs (Jan. 5 and Jan. 19) and will return for one more visit before delivering findings and recommendations within about a month.
Board materials show pocket tables for the Gavin Central cafeteria are scheduled for installation on June 16, and furniture ordered for both Gavin Central and Gavin South has a tentative mid-June delivery. Mr. Snyder said the Gavin South gym—previously thought to need replacement after one more sanding—may instead tolerate up to four additional sandings; the district scheduled a light sanding plus two coats of polyurethane for early June at a cost of $2,995. In the district kitchen, a steam table and warming table have been ordered and expected to be installed the week of the meeting, while a new oven remains on order.
