Meridian Community Unit School District 223’s Board of Education met June 12, 2025, in the Meridian Junior High School Board of Education Room and approved its consent agenda, including accounts payable totaling $1,382,649.71. President John Smith presided and the motion to approve the agenda carried unanimously.
During new business the board voted to set the school-lunch price as directed by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). The meeting record also notes the board authorized staff member Michael to continue searching for a replacement food-service van after the district’s courier, Cary Dietrich, was hit by a deer and the van was totaled; the spending cap was set at not to exceed $30,000. After reconvening from closed session, the board approved a 5% wage increase for administration, directors and district office staff. All recorded motions carried unanimously.
