Committee hears FY25 budget preview, warned of anticipated deficit tied to paving work

The Building and Grounds Committee examined the district's FY25 budget posture Dec. 16 as Dr. Matt Gordon reviewed the FY25 Original Budget Summary.
Dr. Gordon told the committee that "deficit spending was anticipated for FY25," and explained the principal cause was expenses related to the paving improvements project completed during 2024. He added that district fund balances are "fairly healthy" and that the district could earmark funds for future facility projects while managing the one-year shortfall.
Committee members discussed next steps for aligning maintenance projects with available funds; Dr. Gordon said staff would explore costs and develop tentative timelines for priority projects.
