Oconee County opens online comment period and schedules ordinance workshops

Planning Director Ms. Hester said two July public meetings were held and that online comments on the proposed revisions to Chapters 26, 32 and 38 will be accepted through the end of September; Workshops 3–4 are scheduled for Aug. 12 and additional workshops Aug. 26 and in September.
Ms. Hester told the Planning and Economic Development Committee the county held public information meetings on July 29 and July 30 and that the online comment portal remains open through the end of September. "The online ability to submit comments is still open, and that will be open through the end of September," she said.
She reviewed the workshop schedule for ordinance development: Workshops 1 and 2 were completed July 24; Workshops 3 and 4 are scheduled Aug. 12 with sessions 9 a.m.–12 p.m. and 1–4 p.m., further sessions are set for Aug. 26 at the same times, and the final two workshops will be held later in September. Ms. Hester described these sessions as working workshops (not public meetings with quorums) intended to help staff prepare draft ordinance language.
The planning director invited committee members to attend the sessions in the conference room and reiterated that staff will pass workshop recommendations to the planning commission and council for review.
