Carbondale resident challenges dog-at-large ticket, citing dog-park exception; judge denies dismissal

Skyler Reddy told the court his dog was picked up in a dog park and moved to dismiss a dog-at-large citation under the municipal-code exception for designated off-leash areas. Reddy cited the text of the ordinance as a defense and asked the court to dismiss the ticket. "My dog was picked up in the dog park," he said.
Prosecutor Stephanie Bergner said she had reviewed available information and needed to see the police report and other evidence indicating where the animal was found. The judge described the disagreement as a factual dispute that must be resolved at trial or after the police report is reviewed; the case was continued to Sept. 1 at 4:30 p.m. with authority granted to the prosecutor to excuse the defendant if a resolution is reached beforehand.
